Percy Jackson, The Son of The Sea God
Yuta Okkotsu, The Cursed Child
These two "cursed children" were once seen as nothing more than trouble, until one day their lives would change by going to an institution that specialized in helping kids like them. And while there they would make new friends and even grow as people. And while all that's nice and all today I'm going to go over which of these two teenage outcasts turned heroes would win in a DEATH BATTLE!
Before I Start
The main focus of both characters analyses will be on their original mediums. So the original Percy Jackson books, The Heroes of Olympus books and the Trials of Apollo books for Percy. And the original Jujutsu Kaisen Manga for Yuta. Although I will also be using the anime as a secondary source as well as Databook statements and volume extras as long as they are not contradictory. And again as I am not a mathematician I'll be linking sources that helped this blog come to life, especially when it comes to calculations. Also spoilers for the show only fans of Percy Jackson and anime only fans of Jujutsu Kaisen. As I will be going into manga territory and spoiling every book relevant to Percy.
Background
Percy Jackson
Percy Jackson didn't want to be a half-blood. But unfortunately for him, the Fates had other plans and Percy was born to an affair between his mother Sally Jackson. And the Greek god Poseidon, lord of the Seas. But because his dad happened to be a Greek god he decided to go off to get milk and disappear from Percy's life shortly after his birth. But before departing he gave Sally the advice that Percy might be better off at a summer camp, though it would come with the caveat that Sally might not be able to see her son again. But Sally decided she would stay by her son no matter what. And in order to keep him she decided to marry a horrible man named Gabe Ugliano, who would verbally abuse Percy and even physically abuse Sally behind closed doors. And while this move seems counterintuitive to protecting Percy, it worked as Gabe's actual horrible body odor masked Percy's strong scent from monsters that wanted to kill him. Though Percy didn't know this at the time. So the first 12 years of the young Percy Jackson's life he grew up knowing nothing of his heritage or his father. But due to this heritage he had ADHD and Dyslexia and due to these learning disabilities and other factors he would struggle mightily in school and manage to get expelled from all of the schools he previously attended. Until he was sent to the boarding school named Yancy Academy, where he met his first and only friend Grover Underwood. And while at Yancy Academy he would attend a field trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This field trip would change Percy's life forever and if you ask him, for the worse. On this field trip Percy got into trouble with one of his teachers Mrs. Dodds who in actuality was the Fury Alecto and tried to kill Percy but failed, which sent of a chain of events where he would be forced to attend one of the only safe spaces on the planet for demigods. A summer camp named Camp Half-Blood.
But right before he got there his mom would finally reveal to him that he wasn't fully human but before she could reveal to him who his father was they encounter the Minotaur. in which the Minotaur seemingly kills Percy's mother. And Percy retaliates and actually manages to kill the beast with its own horn. And after this he was finally able to become a camper at Camp Half-Blood and finally accepted his heritage as a half god. And while at Camp Half-blood its revealed that Grover is a satyr, a half man half goat and he meets two other demigods Luke castellan Son of Hermes and Annabeth Chase, daughter of Athena, and he befriends the two. With him even being cabinmates with Luke for a time due to Hermes' status as the god of travel, with all new campers whose parents haven't been determined being welcomed into the Hermes cabin. But soon after getting a nice welcome he met the camp bully Clarisse LaRue daughter of Ares and becomes enemies with her but they'll soon be friends. And after a couple weeks at Camp Half-Blood Percy finally finds out he's the son of Poseidon and moves in to the Poseidon cabin as its only inhabitant. And right after this he's given a quest to recover Zeus' missing master bolt in order to prevent a war between Zeus and his father, and in order to be prepared for this his mentor Chiron gives him a sword made of Celestial Bronze called "Anaklusmos" or Riptide. And he succeeds in this quest with the help of Grover and Annabeth. and even learns his mother was alive and saves her in a roundabout way, and even frees her from the shackles of being married to Gabe by giving her Medusas head, which she used to turn him into a statue and sell it. But unfortunately he would find out Luke was the person who stole the bolt in the first place and was working for the Titan Lord Kronos to destroy the gods and left the camp.
The next year Percy would meet a new friend named Tyson who is eventually revealed to be a Cyclops and even Percy's brother on the godly side. And they ended up sneaking out on a quest with Annabeth to the Sea of Monsters to retrieve the Golden fleece and they succeed again with the help of Clarisse who was initially given the quest. And then the next year he meets the other children of The Big 3 gods, Thalia Grace daughter of Zeus and Nico and Bianca di Angelo the son and daughter of Hades. And soon learns of a prophecy that could be about any one of them about a decision they will make when they turn 16. And in order to not turn 16 so the prophecy couldn't be about her Thalia joins the Hunters of Artemis which makes her immortal. And with that Percy decides to have this prophecy be about him to protect Nico who was a vulnerable kid who had just lost his sister on their quest to rescue Artemis and Annabeth. And this was around the time that Percy would start to think of Annabeth as something more than a friend, but being 14 at the time he didn't fully understand it. And a couple months later before Percy's freshman year of high school, he Annabeth, Tyson and Grover would undergo a quest to explore the Labyrinth to stop Luke and his forces from destroying Camp Half-Blood, which was successful thanks to the help of another girl that Percy seems to like, a mortal who could see through the veil that separates the mortal world from the magic world, named Rachel Elizabeth Dare. And after this he would find and defeat a bronze dragon with his friend Charles Beckendorf who is a son of Hephaestus during a game of Capture the Flag. though this was revealed to be a plan by Annabeth to distract Percy long enough to steal his teams flag. Which leads Beckendorf to tell Percy that he should ask Annabeth to see the Fourth of July fireworks show with him as he had asked his crush out and the two had began dating, and Percy does just that.
During Percy's freshman year of high school, he say his friend/enemy Clarisse and decided to help her find her dads stolen chariot. And after succeeding in this endeavor the two of them would become way more friendly towards each other becoming actual friends. And a couple months later close to Percy's winter break he, Thalia and Nico are tricked by Persephone to recover a sword she made for Hades in order for it to not fall into the hands of the Titan army which was growing in power. And the Big Three children are successful and even fight the Titan Iapetus which Percy defeats by erasing his memory and renames him Bob. But in the following summer the war that Percy was preparing for finally started in which the demigods of Camp Half-Blood defended Manhattan and Mount Olympus against Kronos who had taken the body of Luke and his army. And the war ends on Percy's 16 birthday when he made a decision to give Luke Annabeth's knife which lead to Luke stabbing himself in his only vulnerable spot on his body to kill himself and stop Kronos. Just as the prophecy had foretold he made a decision to preserve Olympus and was treated as a hero by the gods and even offered to be a god by Zeus. But Percy turned the gods down as he believed that in order to make sure a war like this couldn't happen again all the gods and their demigod children should be known and has them promise to claim all demigod children by the time they turn 13. And when returning to Camp Half-Blood he and Annabeth share a birthday cupcake and officially start dating. And Rachel even comes back to become the new Oracle of Delphi and delivers her first prophecy which was more than likely the next Great Prophecy. But Percy hopes he won't have to deal with this in his own lifetime.
A few months later while at Camp Half-Blood during the winter, Percy would end up vanishing from the camp. And in his place the Roman demigod son of Jupiter, Jason Grace who also happens to be Thalia's brother, was sent to take his place at the camp by Hera/Juno This was because she learned of another enemy that was stronger than the Titans being Gaea and her Gigantes children and decided that she needed to unite the Greek and Roman demigods to help defeat this threat. Because of this Percy woke up in California with no memories other than Annabeth and soon found his way to the Roman demigod Camp, known as Camp Jupiter. While at this camp he learns of a new great prophecy which the Romans call the Prophecy of Seven which Percy vaguely remembers from Rachel at Camp Half-Blood. He even learns that the romans have basically recreated Rome into the modern era calling it New Rome, where he sees demigods living full and prosperous lives which strikes a chord in him. And he meets two new recruits of Camp Jupiter being Hazel Levesque, daughter of Pluto, which is Hades' Roman form which technically makes her the sister of Nico. And Frank Zhang son of Mars which is Ares' Roman form which technically makes him the brother of Clarisse. Though Percy didn't know this at the time. Although he knew Nico and Hazel were related due to Nico showing up and claiming to be the ambassador of Pluto. And the three of them embarked on a quest given to them by Mars in order to free Thanatos the god of death that way their enemies can actually die when they're supposed to be killed. And during this quest pieces of Percy's memory would come back where he finally remembers that he's a Greek demigod son of Poseidon. And in order to free Thanatos Percy distracts an entire army of ghosts while Frank burns Thanatos' chains off to free him. And when they finally return to camp Jupiter, Percy fights against the Giant made to kill his father and with the help of the god Terminus, kills the giant and saves the camp, which leads to him becoming the new praetor of the legion.
Right after this he receives a scroll from Camp half-Blood, and decides to tell the Romans about the existence of the Greek demigods, which leads to him reuniting with Annabeth. As some of the Greek demigods lead by Jason Grace showed up to Camp Jupiter in a warship called the Argo II to corroborate Percy's story. And the other two demigods that were there were Leo Valdez son of Hephaestus and Piper McLean daughter of Aphrodite. And together the seven demigods of prophecy took off to the ancient lands of Rome and Greece to stop the giants and Gaea from waking. And after one of his most intense battles ever he and Annabeth would fall into Tartarus in order to help close the Doors of Death so it would take way longer for monsters to come back. In which after a long and grueling journey in the depths of Tartarus the Titan Bob came back to help Percy and Annabeth and would sacrifice himself to make sure Percy and Annabeth could close the Doors for good. After escaping Tartarus Percy would end up defeat the last remaining giants with the help of his friends and his family the gods. Which leads to him ending up back at Camp Half-Blood which Gaea chose as her waking spot. And when being reunited with the Greeks for the first time in months he leads their army to fight against the myriad of monsters to defeat them that way his new friends Jason Piper and Leo can deal the final blow to Gaea and are successful in saving the world again. With Percy deciding that he's done with quests for now and due to formerly being a praetor of New Rome gains a full ride scholarship to New Rome University where he and Annabeth now reside living a mostly peaceful life together.
Yuta Okkotsu
Yuta Okkotsu's life didn't start out his life being the cursed child. For the first couple years of life he was actually pretty happy. And he would be even happier when he met a girl named Rika, who he became best friends with and had a crush on and the feelings were mutual. She even gave him her grandmothers wedding ring and ask Yuta to marry her when they became grownups which Yuta agrees to. But sadly this happiness wouldn't last as on their way back home from hanging out Rika accidentally walks into traffic and is hit by a car killing her. With Yuta consciously not accepting this fact and accidentally putting a curse on Rika in which she became a volatile and vengeful cursed spirit that "protected" Yuta from his bullies and those she determined would hurt Yuta or other woman she was jealous of.
So for the next couple of years Yuta would leave in fear of himself and become very depressed and even suicidal to the point where he would isolate himself from other people. And this all culminated on one fateful day where when bullies were attacking him Rika brutally assaulted them. This lead to Yuta wanting to die so badly that he learned he was to be executed and fully accepting this outcome. But the strongest Jujutsu sorcerer in the world Satoru Gojo would stop this and tell Yuta that he could learn to control Rika by going to Tokyo Jujutsu High in order to train. Which Yuta agrees too and when he gets there he meets his new friends Toge Inumaki, Maki Zenin and Panda. And the trio of them help Yuta with weapons training as well as developing his cursed technique and hand to hand combat training. And with these three Yuta began to regain some of his lost happiness. But this short period of pure joy wouldn't last for too much longer as Gojo's old friend now enemy Suguru Geto showed up to try and gain Rika for himself to wipe out all non Jujutsu sorcerers from Japan. But Yuta was able to stop him by unleashing all of Curse Rika's power to completely overpower Geto's strongest attack and this even frees Rika from her curse and she finally moves on into the afterlife peacefully.
Months later Yuta took a vacation to Africa to relax overseas and train with the sorcerer named Miguel and his community. And after arriving back in Japan he learns of what was dubbed the "Shibuya Incident". Where cursed spirits ran rampant in Shibuya, his mentor Gojo was imprisoned in a realm that no one could free him. And the King of Curses Ryomen Sukuna killed countless civilians using his ultimate technique. And this even resulted in Inumaki losing his arm. But before this incident he talked to Gojo who had told him to take care of a new student named Yuji Itadori in case something happened to him, which Yuta agreed too. And soon after this Yuta, Yuji, Maki and all of ther friends and allies throughout Jujutsu society would take the fight to Sukuna to finally free humanity from the reign that Sukuna wants. And after a long and arduos battle that resulted in heavy losses on their side the group is finally able to defeat Sukuna and bring about an era of peace to Japan as their biggest fear was finally gone. And with this Yuta was able to live a happy life, with him becoming the leader of the Gojo clan as it was revealed that he and Gojo share an ancestor. And after that he married Maki and started a family with her, living out the rest of his life in peace.
Skill & Experience
Percy
Percy Jackson is one of, if not the most impressively skilled demigod to ever live. Although the amount of time spent training doesn't really compare to that of his peers given he only has about 4 summers and 1 winter worth of it. His sheer skill and ability more than makes up for it. But just because the time spent training wasn't much doesn't mean the sheer volume of it wasn't impressive. Percy trained with various weapons to combat monsters. His physical mobility by racing against satyrs and dryads. His toughness and stamina by claiming the rock climbing wall at Camp Half-Blood which fills with lava the longer you take. And even trained in hand to hand combat. Though his best asset by far was his sword fighting. Percy is so skilled with a blade that with a sword that didn't feel right for him he was able to match and even get the better of Luke Castellan through a water amp. And Luke was the best swordsman that the camp had seen in 300 years. He is also a better swordsman than fellow Riordanverse protagonist Carter Kane by his own admission. And Carter is a very experienced combat magician that had even been training for 3 full years before they crossed paths. And he was even able to match the skill of Jason Grace in a swordfight while the two were possessed. This is particular impressive given the huge disparity in the time the two of them spent training. With Jason training at Camp Jupiter for 12 full years, compared to the only about 1 total year of training Percy had.
Yuta
Yuta is an exceptionally skilled Jujutsu Sorcerer. Not only that but the quality of his training at Tokyo Jujutsu High was also exceptional, given that he was trained by the man known as the best and strongest, Satoru Gojo in how to properly used his cursed energy. But he wasn't just trained in that, he was also trained in various weapons and hand to hand combat from the best cursed tool user Maki. And with it he became an expert in both fields, being able to box multiple other sorcerers who were also masters in hand to hand combat. Most notably being Yuji Itadori. And after training with the katana he was given by Gojo he became an expert in using it as well.
Arsenal & Equipment
Percy
Riptide
The main weapon that Percy uses is his signature sword Anaklusmos otherwise known as Riptide. This weapon is normally disguised as a ballpoint pen in Percy's pocket in order to disguise itself. Though as soon as he takes the cap off the pen it becomes a three foot long double-edged sword made of pure Celestial Bronze. And as a nifty little trick if he puts the cap to the back of his sword he can change its pen form to writing mode and even use it to make magical graffiti. Although as a weapon made of Celestial Bronze it can dissolve a demigod or monsters essence but it cannot harm normal mortals as they are not deemed important enough for the weapon to kill. Although it can harm magicians as shown by Percy's duel with Carter Kane with Carter being intensely wounded by the blade. The sword also has an enchantment that whenever it's lost, it will return back to Percy's pocket in pen form.
Yuta
Katana
Despite being trained with various cursed tools due to his training with Maki, Yuta usually decides to keep it simple and use a katana as his weapon of choice. And after training to imbue his Cursed Energy into the katana he became an expert with this. Which effectively made his style of sorcery being swordplay which he reinforced with his Jujutsu. And should his katanas ever break he could replace them with the ones stored within Rika. Speaking of which...
Promise Ring
The ring that Rika had given to him while the two of them were still children is a key part of Yuta's arsenal. With it he can manifest parts of the cursed spirit Rika to appear and grab things from her storage or other cursed techniques that he had copied (more on that later). But the real danger comes from when he puts the ring on his finger as he normally has it around his neck. When he puts the ring on his finger he's usually asking Rika to give him all her cursed energy and to fully manifest which makes him incredibly dangerous.
Abilities
Percy
Superhuman Strength & Durability
Given his status as a demigod, Percy's physical prowess is exceptional, especially compared to that of a mortal. But being that he's also the son of one of the Big Three his prowess even extends far beyond most other demigods. This is further backed up multiple times in the series, like when he accidentally caused Mt. Saint Helens to erupt, or when he lifted the sky. There's also the multiple times when he fought and even tossed around the giant children of Gaea who were all at least 10 feet tall and could toss around mountains. And his durability is nothing to scoff at either, going back to the volcano eruption, he survived being in its epicenter and his fall from the sky afterward. He even managed to survive after being inflicted with the pain of every last monster he killed throughout his many journeys.
Superhuman Speed & Reflexes
As in common in demigods, Percy has ADHD, but in this universe this is actually a sign of his latent battle reflexes which would keep him alive on the battlefield. And this is blatantly shown during his fight with Ares as he was able to move just when he needed to, and he can even boost these reflexes when in contact with water. And he's also incredibly speedy when it comes to dodging and slashing his sword, given that he was able to dodge a dodgeball thrown at the speed of sound and even deflect a bullet off of his sword before even reaching the physical peak of his abilities.
Hydrokinesis
Being the son of the god of seas Poseidon, Percy's main abilities come from his control over water. He can will it rise from an entire creek and lift at least 10,000 gallons of water with just his will. He can even cause it to take solid form to do insane things like walking on water. He can even solidify the water into limbs to tear apart his enemies like he did in The Son of Neptune where he made the Little Tiber River into two gigantic fists to shred his enemies apart. He also gets an amp when in water as he makes him twice and strong and fast as he normally is, and it also heals his wounds, though it works best with saltwater. He can also breathe underwater as though he's on land and can create bubbles of air for those he can't and when coming out of water he'll be completely dry unless he wills himself to get wet. His connection with the seas is so strong that even if there is no water present, he can still summon it anyway. And on top of all that it's even crazier that he seems to be able to control other liquids as well due to their trace amount of water in them, shown by him controlling poison twice before and even a river of fire and misery while in Tartarus.
Atmokinesis
Another byproduct of his heritage as the son of Poseidon, Percy can manipulate the weather to some extent. The most notable examples of this come from when he had the help of Jason Grace, the two of them combined they're powers to create a massive storm of rain, waves, wind and lightning that they kept going for two hours. And on top of that Percy can even raise hurricanes by himself, something he's done three separate times, though sustaining such storms and hurricanes does drain him of his energy, though he's gotten better at managing it.
Yuta
Cursed Energy
Cursed Energy is a type of energy that all Jujutsu sorcerers know how to use in order to enhance their techniques and can also use it to enhance their physical abilities. Cursed Energy is produced by harvesting negative emotions, usually sadness, hatred and jealousy. And Yuta is special in this regard as he holds by far the most amount of Cursed Energy within him than anybody, even more than Satoru Gojo, the man deemed the strongest other than Sukuna. Though because of his sheer volume of cursed energy within him, in order to not go insane or turn into a curse he has Rika store a lot of it for him until he needs to use it. Speaking of which.
Rika
This is the same cursed spirit that Yuta initially had cursing him, although thanks to freeing her from her curse she became way more subdued and Yuta has way more control over her than before. He mainly uses her as a way to store his excess cursed energy, extra cursed tools and the other Cursed Techniques that he's copied, given that if he didn't have her as an external tool to store his copied techniques his brain would burst. He normally only manifests her partly, but when he's running low on cursed energy he can manifest her fully in order to use her cursed energy to replenish his own.
Copy
Yuta's innate Cursed Technique is Copy. Whenever Rika devours the body part of someone, she stores their cursed technique within herself that Yuta can then access. By the end of the series Yuta had copied at least 6 cursed techniques that we know about.
Cursed Speech
Initially the Cursed Technique of his best friend Toge Inumaki, this was the first technique that Yuta was shown to copy. This technique reinforces the users very words with their cursed energy which compels whoever hears the command to immediately act or be acted upon their command. Yuta has used it to cause a massive amount of lower grade curses to immediately die and can also use it to stop people's movements.
Shikigami
The Cursed Technique of sorcerer Dhruv Lakadawalla. Yuta can summon Shikigami should he feel the need to attack from long distance instead of his close quarters combat. These Shikigami are in the visage of bats although with a difference being that they have Rika's face. These Shikigami also surround Yuta's enemy and circle around them to form a barrier meant to prevent the enemy from moving. And should Yuta's enemy try and escaping the barrier they will be slashed at every angle by the Shikigami.
Sky Manipulation
Initially the Cursed Technique of Takako Uro. With this Cursed Rechnique Yuta gains control over the sky and can turn it into a tangible surface that he can grab and manipulate to manipulate space similar to how a camera lens can create distortion on its images. He can even use this technique offensively with the skill Thin Ice Breaker, where instead of hitting his opponent he instead hits the surface of the sky anywhere near him and shatters that area, hitting them instead with that force.
Technique Extinguishment
The Cursed Technique that Yuta copied from Hana and Angel. This cursed technique nullifies the effects of all of other Jujutsu. He can further use this technique offensively with the attack Jacob's Ladder which blasts down a pillar of light onto his enemy which burns them and even damages the connection between soul and body, evidenced by the fact that it weakened the connection between Sukuna's soul and Megumi's body.
G Warstaff
The Cursed Technique of Charles Bernard that Yuta copied. This cursed technique allows Yuta to see the future movements of his opponent by attaching a manga panel to them and then drawing blood which Yuta does with his Cursed Energy reinforced katanas.
Shrine
The Cursed Technique of the main antagonist and King of Curses Ryomen Sukuna, that Yuta copied. This technique allows Yuta to unleash two different types of invisible slashes that can cut apart his enemies without being seen. The first type of slash is Dismantle where the user can throw out their slashes from either close quarters or long range. And the second type of slash is Cleave which can usually only be used through direct contact and its more powerful than normal dismantles as it adjust to its targets durability to try and cut them down in one attack. Though this also depends on the difference of cursed energy output between the user and their target as when Yuta used it on Sukuna, Sukuna only gained minor injuries from it.
Reversed Cursed Technique
By using the principles of math within cursed energy and multiplying by itself, the negative cursed energy then becomes positive and used for healing rather than attacking. This is an extremely advanced technique of Jujutsu Society that most sorcerers can't even do, Reversed Cursed Technique allows the user to heal wounds and brokens limbs. And it can even regenerate lost limbs like arms and if can also be used to heal other peoples wounds as well.
Black Flash
By being in a mind state similar to athletes are when they're in what we like to call the zone and applying Cursed Energy within a microsecond of an attack the space around them will distort and the Cursed Energy turns into a black flash of light, giving it its name. And should a Black Flash land successfully the damage dealt with be multiplied by a factor of 2.5 and it will replenish the Cursed Technique of the user and allow them to be at 120% of their maximum potential for the rest of the battle. Though it should be noted that no Jujutsu Sorcerer can use Black Flash at will and is slightly luck based, though being in the zone does seem to help.
Domain Expanison: Authentic Mutual Love
The pinnacle of Jujutsu Sorcery a Domain Expansion is a very difficult ability to attain and something most Jujutsu Sorcerers can never even dream to try. By performing a unique hand sign, it allows the caster to bring in their Innate Domain into the real world and normally doesn't actually occupy the full space in the real world as its outside is usually seen as a black barrier of sorts. Being within the Domain increases all of the casters stats and also fully guarantees that any Cursed Techniques used by the will hit the target. Yuta's Domain Expansion is shown as a graveyard of swords and with it he has full access to any copied Cursed Techniques that will all be guaranteed to hit. And he can use any of his copied Cursed Techniques as the Domain's sure hit effect. The slight catch is that he can only use one at a time as all of the Cursed Techniques are stored within the swords, and not even Yuta knows what Cursed Technique is stored in which sword until he picks it up.
Resistances
Percy
- Extreme temperatures: Being the Son of the Sea God, Percy can survive in both freezing temperatures and extremely hot ones shown by when he was hit by boiling lava thrown at him by sea demons.
- Illness: During the COVID-19 pandemic it was revealed that demigods couldn't get sick from the disease and showed no symptoms, but can still transmit it.
- Water Manipulation: Due to being the son of Poseidon, Percy cannot be harmed by water using conventional means, with the only exceptions being the River Styx and River Lithe.
- Power Nullification: Using intense concentration Percy was able to break out of the giant tank made by the god Phorcys to contain demigods and turn off their powers, by using his control over water to shatter the tank.
- Magic: Demigods have been shown to be extremely resilient against magic, with Percy himself even confusing a high level magic spell from the literal modern day Pharoah Carter Kane.
- Soul Manipulation: Percy was able to survive multiple cuts from the sword Backbiter which was revealed to be a modified version of Kronos' scythe and hits from the scythe itself, which can sever someone's soul from their body. And he can also survive cuts from Celestial Bronze and Imperial Gold, which can dissolve a demigods essence from inside out.

Scaling
Percy
When it comes to scaling, Percy should scale to practically every feat performed by a Greek or Roman demigod. In fact another demigod, Nico di Angelo states in front of six other demigods who are supposed to be his equals that Percy was the most powerful demigod that he's met. And he had met all but two of them beforehand. And this group even included the leader of the Roman camp, Jason Grace, whom Nico had met during his trips to Camp Jupiter. Therefore Percy should scale to any feats performed by them.
Greek Demigods
- Nico di Angelo was able to open a massive crack in the ground that led straight to the Underworld during his first time using his powers (7.3 Megatons or City Level)
- Thalia Grace redirected lightning off her spear to hit Percy
- Both Luke Castellan and Annabeth Chase had the willpower to be helpful in lifting up the sky, which Percy later did himself
Roman Demigods
- Jason Grace survived the destruction of his weapon IVLIVS which formed a massive cone shaped crater 30 feet deep (14.8 Kilotons or Town Level)
- Hazel Levesque was able to sink a small island by filling it with riches (219 Kilotons or Large Town Level)
- Jason killed the Titan Krios by himself with his bare hands
- Jason also created a massive maelstrom in order to trap Gaea (4.8 Gigatons or Island Level)
- Jason blocked lightning from a storm spirit at close range (Mach 521 - Mach 762.7)
Yuta
Given his status as one of the strongest characters in the series by the final arc, he should scale to most other feats performed in series. This is most notable due to his performance against some of the strongest characters and even briefly holding his own against the strongest character in the verse Ryomen Sukuna. So Yuta should scale to most feats perfomed by characters not named Ryomen Sukuna or Satoru Gojo.

- Jogo is also said to give their leader Kenjaku a tough time if he and Mahito worked together and Yuta ultimately was the one who killed Kenjaku.

Before My Verdict
Percy
The Properties of Monsters
In order to fully understand how this matchup would work in my opinion, I believe that it's necessary to look further in to how monsters work in the world of Percy Jackson. The reason for this is because of something seemingly similar in Jujutsu Kaisen that I'll be getting into shortly, but for now let's talk monsters. According to Chiron, monsters are born from the chaos and barbarism that's always bubbling from underneath Western Civilization. And as such they are primal forces called Archetypes. And because will always come back after being killed and will never die permanently whether it take years or even days. They can also only be harmed by weapons of Celestial Bronze, Imperial Gold and Stygian Iron and normal mortal weapons have no effect on them. And on top of that they are also shrouded by a veil known as The Mist in order for them not to be seen by normal people to keep them from going insane, and instead they're given a different appearance.
Yuta
The Properties of Cursed Spirits
This was the something similar that I was alluding to earlier. So as I deem it similar I believe it's necessary to look into how Cursed Spirits work in JJK. Cursed Spirits are born from negative emotions leaked out by humans and then gather like sediment in order to take form. As a result of this most Curses are the representation of humanity's fears like Jogo being the fear of fire and Mahito being the fear of mankind itself. This also results in places like schools or hospitals where there's crowds of people leaking out negative emotions being more susceptible to curses being formed. And since Curses are also the byproduct of human fears and negative emotions, they will always come back later, usually just in a different form or name, or sometimes even the same name and form. Like with Mahito years after his original death. Curses are also invisible to the naked eye as they operate on a different spectrum of light that most people can't see, and only being in a life or death situation with them or having cursed energy would make them visible.
Monsters vs Curses
So the conclusion that I gather from comparing the two major opponents that Percy and Yuta fight throughout their series, is that while they have some differences, they are also exceptionally similar. With both being unable to be seem by normal people, and also being born from the negative thoughts and traits of humankind and coming back after a while of being dead. So because of just how similar these traits are I believe that in this battle Percy would still be able to see a Curse, like Rika even without Cursed Energy even before the two started fighting. And I also believe that Percy's Celestial Bronze sword would be able to harm Rika was well.
My Verdict
First, let's talk strength. The best feat that Yuta gets and can scale to is Kenjaku surviving the initial pull of Yuki's black hole which comes out to 676 Megatons. And the best feat that Percy would scale to is his Roman demigod counterpart Jason Grace conjuring up a massive maelstrom in order to trap Gaea in it which comes out to 4.8 Gigatons. Substantially higher than Yuta's best feat. But it does get slightly stranger when factoring in the Black Flash, which multiplies the power of a strike by 2.5. And multiplying the Black Hole feat by 2 comes out to around 1.7 Gigatons. Which is closer to Percy's best level of strength but still falls short by a difference of around 3 times. So Percy claims the victory in the strength category.
Speed
Next up, let's talk speed. This is a bit trickier than comparing the two's strength but it still comes out with a pretty clear winner. Since I started with Yuta last time I'll go over Percy's best speed feats and scaling first. The best things Percy gets for speed is scaling to Jason blocking close range lightning from a storm spirit at around Mach 521 to Mach 762. There is also the feat of him turning his head and lifting his sword in tandem to Hyperion's light at around 16% the speed of light, but that feat seems slightly more contentious, but the argument is still there. Now for Yuta the best he gets is that his able to utilize the Black Flash, which involves invoking Cursed Energy within a microsecond which comes out to Mach 933 at best. Additionally the attack Jacob's Ladder summons actual pillars of light coming out at obviously light speed. And on top of that should Yuta invoke his Domain Expansion every last one of his copied Cursed Techniques are guaranteed to hit Percy making Percy's speed an almost complete nonfactor while within the Domain. So Yuta claims the victory for speed.
Skill & Experience
I feel like skill/experience is pretty fun to go over and also somewhat obvious. The both of them only have around 1 total year of experience but are way more skilled enough to make up for it, given that they can match the skill of combatants centuries older than them. Although they do have their own advantages, Percy is definitely the better swordsman of the two, and Yuta is way better at hand combat. So overall skill and experience should result in a tie.
Arsenal & Abilities
And now for the final category, which I deem by far the most important and also was by far the most confusing one to figure out. To get the easier part out the way, the arsenal segment I would give a tie given that they each only have one part of their arsenal that can't ever be fully taken away. With Riptide's enchantment meaning Percy could never be permanently disarmed, and Yuta storing more katanas within Rika meaning he also could never be disarmed permanently.
And now for the confusing part, how their abilities and powers play off each other. And I would say most of their abilities would more than likely cancel each other out. As both have ways to heal themselves with water for Percy and RCT for Yuta. Although I would say Yuta's healing is better due to the fact the he can regenerate lost limbs. They both have ways to bring out their full potential of power, again with water for Percy and Yuta's Black Flash. But I would say Percy's way is better due to always having access to water as compared to the slightly lucked based Black Flash.
And also on top of that they both also have ways to end the fight almost immediately, with Percy using Riptide to kill Rika and have Yuta's brain burst, and also controlling the water within Yuta to kill him. And Yuta could land a Domain Expansion and hit Percy with a Cleave to slice him to bits instantly due to Percy not having Cursed Energy, and all Cursed Techniques are guaranteed to hit within a Domain. So in my opinion it comes down to what I believe to be the most likely outcome. But in order to make this more interesting I'll list the outcomes from what I believe is the least likely to the most likely outcome.
So to start the outcome I believe would be the least likely to happen is Percy manipulating the water within Yuta to immediately kill him. Now while this seems like it would be a great win con at first glance, I would deem it by far the least likely to happen. The reason for this is despite having this ability, Percy is geuninely afraid to ever use it again, hence why he didn't move Polybotes' poison out of the way in The Blood of Olympus. So while he could use this move to win, it's way to out of character for me to believe he would ever do it again, which is why I believe this would be the least likely outcome of this battle.
Now the outcome that I think is slightly more viable, but still not the one I believe would be the most likely to happen. Yuta landing a Domain Expansion and hitting Percy with Cleave in order to slice him apart without having to worry about Percy's durability. I believe this is more likely than the last outcome simply because I believe it's way more in character for Yuta to use his Domain over Percy manipulating the water within Yuta, and Cursed Techniques within Domains are guaranteed to hit. But as for the reason why I don't think it's the most likely to happen is simply because Yuta wouldn't know what katana has Cleave stored within it before he picks it up. And to briefly address other Copied Techniques, I don't believe any of them are anywhere near as viable as Shrine/Cleave, Like with most of them Percy is just stronger and more durable to handle them. And when it comes to Technique Extinguishment it wouldn't matter due to Percy not having a Cursed Technique. But on top of that he resists the soul targeting of Jacob's Ladder as well. That just leave one, that being Cursed Speech in order to halt Percy's movements. But Percy has shown the ability to break out of a similar ability from the Titan Lord Kronos with the help of water. Which Percy has the ability to summon as the sea exists within him.
And now for the final outcome which I believe to be the most likely to happen, and if you've been using the process of elimination, you know which one it is. That being Percy killing Rika with Riptide and Yuta's brain bursting as a result. The reason I would say this is the most likely outcome is due to the fact that since Percy is effectively fighting a 1v2 he would definitely take some swings at Rika, especially if Riptide doesn't work on Yuta as he's basically a normal human. But due to the fact that both Monsters and Cursed Spirits are incredibly similar it should still work on Rika. And due to the difference in strength between the two all it would take is a well timed swing in order to cut Rika down for good. And with Rika gone and not having an external tool to store his myriad of Cursed Techniques, Yuta's brain would burst. Which would more than likely kill him immediately, and if it didn't it would leave him open for Percy to take the win. So for these reason I deem this the most likely outcome to happen, which means I believe that Percy would take the victory in abilities and overall win cons.
Conclusion
Percy
- About 3 to 7 times stronger than Yuta
- Is a better swordsman
- Resists the soul targeting of Jacob's Ladder
- And can summon water to revitalize him should he be hit with Cursed Speech to halt his movement.
- Can kill Rika which would instantly give him the win as Yuta's brain would burst
Equal:
- Similar levels of skill and experience
Disadvantages:
- Is still slower than Yuta's Jacob's Ladder attack
- Has worse healing
- Worse at hand to hand combat
- ... Domain Expansion means Percy can't dodge anything making his speed an almost nonfactor
Yuta
Advantages:
- Is a better hand to hand combatant
- Has a better way to heal himself and just overall better healing
- Is a little bit faster than Percy
- With Domain Expansion all of his Cursed Techniques are guaranteed to hit
Disadvantages:
- Is the worse swordsman of the two
- Is about 3 to 7 times weaker than Percy
- Should Yuta used Cursed Speech to halt Percy, Percy could just revitalize himself in order to move again
- Jacob Ladder's soul targeting is resisted by Percy
- And should Rika be killed Yuta's brain would burst, meaning he loses immediately
So to finish off, this was a very fun matchup to discuss and doing this blog made it jump up numerous spots in my most wanted Death Battles list. But I have to deem my winner and that would be Percy Jackson. With his greater strength, similar levels of skill and experience, and his abilities and more reliable win cons, I believe Percy would take the win over Yuta more times than not. So the winner is PERCY JACKSON.
